Video Shoot Time
Have you heard of the wildly popular Vogue 73 Questions video series? Celebrities are asked a series of 73 questions by an interviewer following them around with a camera. These questions are not completely known ahead of time, so the result is a spontaneous, interesting, and genuine video that lets people get to know more about the interviewee. This same approach (maybe not exactly 73 questions) could be a great way for people to get know more about you and your business.
Once you've watched the video above, or checked out YouTube to find a bunch of other 73 Questions videos by Vogue, read below to see how we've broken this video down to its different elements, showing how you can make this type of video for your business.
The actors in this video are tantamount to its success so let's talk about them first.
The interviewee should be someone that your customers/audience know or you want them to get to know. They don't have to have a huge personality but they shouldn't be too shy of the camera.
The interviewer should be someone from your business or someone who you trust. The interviewer will be mic'ed up and ask all of the questions of the interviewee and will follow the camera person around when doing so.
Note that the setting should be something has enough space to walk around in a bit. The more interesting the space the better.
The structure for this type of video should be pretty loose. The only thing we'd want to plan out (besides the questions) is the walking path. We'd want to pick a starting point and then at least two other locations where we would follow the interviewee and interviewer.
The questions should be a mix of fun and light-hearted questions and ones that speak more to the business message you'd like people to know about your business.
The interviewee shouldn't know the questions (at least some of the) in advance.
Ideally you'll want to have some funny moments in this video. With the right actors and the right questions prepped ahead of time, that should come naturally.
